Advanced Training
For senior staff we have a number of qualified training courses e.g. Manual
Handling Trainer, Client Handling Assessor, VDU Assessor, Manual Handling Risk
Assessor. Each candidate receives a comprehensive study manual and upon
certification will be equipped with all the tools and support to proficiently
perform their duties. We also supply presenter/assessor packs that include
presenter notes, study manuals, overhead slides, forms, handouts and videos.
Manual Handling Risk Assessor
This course is tailored to suit the type of manual handling applications on-site
and requires a pre-course site visit by the Physiotherapist, which is included
in the price. Each candidate will receive all the necessary forms, a
comprehensive study manual and upon certification will be able to:
- Understand the legislation relevant to manual handling risk assessment
- Understand the numerical guidelines relating to manual handling, as recommended
by the MHOR
- Understand how injuries occur
- Show a basic understanding of ergonomics
- Identify manual handling risk factors
- Identify risk reducing factors relative to manual handling
- Carry out a risk assessment, including recommendations for reducing risk, on an
identified area
- Identify areas of the body at risk from work related musculoskeletal disorders
- Recognise some common potentially work related pathologies
- Calculate action

The course will end with the candidate
completing a written theory assessment and performing a risk assessment of an
identified area within their workplace. The course tutor will require access to
the identified areas no less than 2 weeks prior to the course commencing, to
allow them to identify the hazards and evaluate the candidate’s completed risk
assessments.
DSE/VDU Assessor
Each candidate will receive a comprehensive study
manual and upon certification will be able to:
- State employer’s responsibilities
regarding DSE Legislation
- Understand how VDU work-related musculoskeletal and
visual disorders arise
- Identify employees requiring referral onto the
Occupational Health Department
- Proficiently assess employee’s VDU Workstations
- Impart advice to employees regarding their workstation, posture and adverse
health effects

Client Handling Assessor
Our aim is to provide the client with Assessors who can review client handling
situations, highlight deficiencies and advise the appropriate corrective action
required.
Since there is an examination at the end of this course, which
candidates will have to pass to receive certification, clients should ensure
that only suitably experienced and responsible candidates attend.
For optimum
benefit, we would recommend this course be provided over a two week period i.e.
2 consecutive days each week, for two weeks.
All our courses can be provided at
the client’s premises if there is a sufficient number of attendees. For client’s
with under 12 candidates, this course is provided every six months at our
Training Centres. Please contact our central booking office for details of the
next scheduled Four Day Assessor Course - Client Handling.
Manual Handling
Trainer
Since there is an examination at the end of this course, which
candidates will have to pass to receive certification, clients should ensure
that only suitably experienced and responsible candidates attend. Successful
candidates will benefit from our aftercare programme, and there is even a
freephone number for them to use and speak with one of our Chartered
Physiotherapists.
All our courses can be provided at the client’s premises if
there is a sufficient number of attendees. For client’s with under 8 candidates,
open courses are provided throughout the UK at our Training Centres. Please

and 12 copies of our 17 page Efficient Movement Booklets to cover the Trainer’s
first course.
Client & Object Handling Trainer Course
There is an examination at
the end of this course, which candidates will have to pass to receive
certification. This course is suitable for Chartered Physiotherapists and
Occupational Therapists. Other candidates will be considered, based upon their
qualifications and experience of client handling or manual handling. For
candidates without suitable qualification/experience, additional modules will be
required. Successful candidates will benefit from our aftercare programme, and
there is even a telephone number for them to use and speak with one of our
Chartered Physiotherapists.
The training of Trainers in client handling comes in
two parts. Firstly there is a five day intensive workshop. Candidates who have
successfully completed the workshop will then be required to “train out” a
course, under the supervision of a PhysiCare trainer. Both parts must be
completed within a 3 month period.
